Change to Practice Clinical Computer System

Important Patient Notice: Change to Our Clinical System

At the end of May 2026, our practice will be moving to a new clinical computer system called EMIS Web. This change is part of an all-Wales programme and is being made to support improvements in how we manage patient information and deliver care.

During the system changeover, there will be temporary disruption to some services between 21 May and 31 May 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to explain how this may affect patients.

Key Information for Patients

Repeat Prescriptions

If your repeat medication is due between 21 May and 31 May 2026, please make sure you submit your request by 20 May 2026.  Requests made after this date may be subject to delay during the migration period.

Online Services and the NHS App

During the changeover:  Online prescription requests and viewing or booking appointments online will be temporarily unavailable. These services will be restored once the migration to EMIS Web is complete.

Appointments

Appointment availability will be reduced, and urgent or clinically necessary problems will be prioritised. At times we will have no access to your computer records.

We are currently unable to book appointments beyond 12 June. Our forward appointment book will reopen on 2 June, when appointments after this date can be arranged.

Appointment Text Reminders

Appointment text message reminders will be paused until mid‑June 2026.
Please ensure you make a note of any appointments you have booked.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is the practice changing systems?

This change is part of an all‑Wales programme to move all  GP Practices to a single, modern clinical system.  EMIS Web will support safer and more consistent care across Wales.

The practice is being fully supported throughout the migration by Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and our Clinical system suppliers to ensure the change is carried out safely.

Will the practice be closed during the changeover?

No. The practice will remain open, but some services may be limited or take longer than usual between 21 May and 31 May 2026.

What should I do if I need medication during this time?

If your repeat prescription is due during the changeover period, please order it by 20 May 2026 to avoid delays.  You can still request prescriptions via your usual pharmacy or in writing to the Practice but there may be a delay in processing your request.

Can I still use the NHS App?

The NHS App will continue to work, but Practice services - online prescriptions and appointment booking - will be temporarily unavailable during the migration. These services will return once the changeover is complete.

Are any appointments still available?

Appointment numbers will be reduced, and urgent matters will be prioritised. Please contact us in the usual way or consider whether any of these services will help you –

  • Community Pharmacy,
  • Opticians,
  • Minor-Injuries.

We appreciate your understanding during this period.

At times we will have no access to our clinical system, this means we wont be able to access:

  • your medical records,
  • prescriptions,
  • results or letters.
  • Our appointment book will also be unavailable.

Please be assured that this will be temporary.

Why can’t I book appointments after 12 June?

While the system is being transferred, we are unable to safely book appointments beyond this date. This will return to normal once the migration is complete. We are advising patients who need to arrange appointments after the 12th of June to contact the Practice after the 2nd of June.

Will I still get appointment reminder texts?

Text reminders will be paused until mid‑June as our text provider will be changing.
Please make a note of your appointment date and time, and which surgery site you are attending.

Will this affect how long things take at reception?

Possibly. This is a major change for all staff, and some tasks may take a little longer while we learn the new system. Please be patient with our team.

Thank You for Your Understanding

This is a significant change for the whole practice. We will continue to provide care while the new system is introduced and thank you for your patience, understanding, and support during this period.

Further updates will be shared on this page and on our social media channels.
